How it works

  1. Every website gets one shared chat room, keyed by its top-level domain. Chatting on news.example.com/story puts you in the example.com room.
  2. Each page gets its own thread inside the site's room, so conversations about a specific page stay together. A site's main page links to all of its page threads.
  3. Every message is also copied into the baseless.chat room, tagged with the site it came from. That's what you see in the chat on this page.

Two ways to use it

  1. Chrome extension. Install it, then open the baseless.chat side panel and the chat follows whatever tab you're on.
  2. On the web. Type a site into the bar at the top, or open a link like baseless.chat/?url=zillow.com. The site is shown in this frame and its chat room sits beside it. Use the copy icon at the top right to share a link to any room.

When a site doesn't load here

Many sites refuse to be shown inside another page. Well-known ones get a splash screen right away. If any other site shows an error instead, click Not showing? above it and this browser will remember to skip it. Use Open site to visit it in a new tab. The chat for that site still works either way.
